Good Food Rebate Program
The GFRP is an innovative economic incentive program in which institutional food buyers will be rebated the average cost difference between “conventional food” and local, sustainable, and/or fairly-produced food, which here is broadly called “good food.” The program was designed based on the systematic feedback collected from Farm to School Taskforce members and other San Diego County school districts in our annual State of Farm to School survey, which has shown for several years that the increased cost of these foods continues to be the top barrier to school districts increasing their good food purchases. An economic barrier calls for an economic solution. The GFRP is one such solution.
