Jamie Philips, the Director of Child Nutrition and his team at Vista Unified School District were recognized by the Chef Ann Foundation for their creative ways of taking salad bars to the next level. The team continues to engage the school community by creating events like “Fear Factor” that increase the willingness of students to try new items featured on the salad bar. Along with fun activities for students, Jamie Philips is use locally sourced produce in their salad bars. Last year, Visa Unified School Districts purchased 78,000 lbs of fresh produce from California. Great work done by the Child Nutrition Team at Vista Unified School District!
